Year-round training, schedule does not change!

Our Youth Speed Team is meant for a wide range of athletes between ages 6-13. It’s a fun, low-pressure environment where athletes can explore track events and get training on proper running technique.

We always start our practice with warm up drills and wicket drills to improve sprinting mechanics and stride frequency. The second half of practice is alternating between a sprinting workout and track events such as hurdles, long jump, block starts, relay hand-offs, and shot put.

When we host a track events practice, we set up multiple stations with different events so that athletes can decide what they want to learn and/or practice. Athletes are not confined to just one track event nor do they have to learn/practice events they are not interested in!

The Commitment

  • Attend Tuesday's practices regularly

    • During practice, attentiveness and good sportsmanship are important attributes that we expect from all our athletes

  • Track meets are OPTIONAL!

    • While we strongly encourage our athletes to compete at track meets, they are completely optional! We will keep you in the loop about any local track meets that we will be taking our coaching team to. This way, if your athlete decides to participate, we will be there to coach them through it!
